Angela Elizabeth Boyce
Angela Elizabeth Boyce was born to West Indian immigrants in the small town of Barstow, California. Not knowing that her name meant heavenly messenger of God's holy oath, Boyce began to perform her poetry in 1993. Boyce has been published in such literary journals as Colored Textiles, City Works and the Ethiop's Ear. She is the author of several chapbooks including Kujichagulia, In the Song of Chattel and Words Will. Boyce has been featured on the compact discs Exploded Views and Nommogeneity, is the Sounds of Soul Female Spoke Word Artist of the Year 2001, the Austin International Poetry Festival champion 2001 and ranked fifth at the National Poetry Slam 2001. Her first collection of audio work, Lamentations, was released in 1999. She is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego and currently resides in Sacramento, California.
