M. Katharine Makkai From Denver, CO, Katharine is a professional harpist, and paramedic student. She has performed her work for organizations such as Amnesty International, the Boulder Food Co-op, and KUVO Jazz-tales 89.3. She's also taught poetry for three years at a juvenile detention facility in Denver. Kate started slamming in 2000, becoming the Denver City Champion that year, and has represented Denver at the National Poetry Slam every year since.
