Lloyd Robson

Lloyd is poet, novelist, journalist, montagist, photographer, typographer, performer, event organiser, workshop tutor & all-round pain in the arse from Wales, UK. His accent is a shambles & he speaks with a stammer.

As poet-performer he's read throughout the UK (Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Glastonbury Festival, BBC, ITV & Channel 4 Television, etc); in Germany (on tour with guitar band "Reach") & in the USA (New York City & Syracuse).

His latest book cardiff cut topped the Welsh Sales Charts & was described by the British Press as "some of the best dialect writing in these islands, ever" (the Guardian), "an urban rime of the ancient mariner... a tonsil-ripping cocktail of a book" (New Welsh Review) & "a national treasure" (Planet Magazine). It's now available in the States from dufoureditions.com.

Lloyd received an Arts Council of Wales Writer's Bursary to complete his next collection & he's in forthcoming anthologies from bloomsbury, gomer, parthian & the short fuse anthology from New York's Rattapallax Press. Elsewhere, his poetry has been engraved into the pavements of his home city.

In October 2001 Lloyd read at the Julliard School, CUNY, St. Mark's Poetry Project, Writer's Voice, 14st Y, etc, as part of the UKwithNY festival. He's currently writer in residence at the University of Wales School of Art, media & design (Newport) & in 2003 he'll be reading at various venues in Tokyo, Japan.

i was in the clifton the other nite & some bloke tried selling me his used
PANAVIA TORNADO GR MK1 JET FIGHTER & he was asking a fair price so
i thought: suss it out. i walked home & put it to sal. we discussed its
merits & went to bed; went at it hammer & tongs.


          i discovered:

went back to the pub. all he had left was a HAWKER HARRIER JUMP JET but
we was too fuckt for that.

few pints, a kebab. must've been satdee, aircraft carriers parked by the
cashpoint, remembering their pin codes & searching pockets for cards.
